
In a disturbing incident that highlights the devastating impact of alcohol addiction, an elder brother allegedly murdered his younger brother over a trivial dispute in Madhugiri taluk of Tumakuru district. The shocking crime, which reportedly stemmed from a refusal to give money for alcohol, has left the local community deeply disturbed and raised concerns about substance abuse and domestic violence.
The incident took place in Nittarahalli village in Madhugiri taluk. The victim has been identified as Gangaraju, aged 36, while the accused is his elder brother, Narasimhamurthy. According to reports, Narasimhamurthy had been struggling with alcohol addiction for some time.
On Tuesday evening, Narasimhamurthy reportedly asked Gangaraju for money to purchase alcohol. When his request was refused, a heated argument broke out between the two. Narasimhamurthy, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, became enraged and attacked his brother.
During the altercation, Narasimhamurthy pushed Gangaraju to the ground and allegedly dropped a heavy stone on his chest. The impact caused severe injuries, and Gangaraju died at the scene.
Following the incident, another brother, Subrahmanya, filed a complaint at Kodigenahalli Police Station. Acting promptly, the police arrested the accused. Tumakuru District Superintendent of Police Ashok KV also visited the scene to inspect the area.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. The incident, in which a man allegedly killed his own brother over a minor dispute linked to alcohol, has left residents of the village shocked and saddened.
