ISL 2021-22: SC East Bengal ropes in Jackichand Singh on loan from Mumbai City FC

Jackichand Singh is an Indian midfielder who has played for numerous football clubs across India. Having last played for Jamshedpur FC, he has signed up for SC East Bengal on loan.


Ahead of the 2021-22 Indian Super League, the Indian transfer window continues as the sides continue to sign players. Meanwhile, Indian giant SC East Bengal has roped in Indian midfielder Jackichand Singh on a season-long loan from Mumbai City FC.

The 29-year-old midfielder from Manipur has played for numerous clubs across India. In the ISL, he has played for five franchises, while SCEB would be his sixth. As for his career, he has played 140 games to date, scoring 23 goals. Of the 91 ISL matches, he has scored on 13 occasions, while he has won a title, the Indian Super Cup, in 2019 with FC Goa.

After signing for the club, he expressed his delight at coming back to the club. He thanked the management for making his return possible, as he has a special love for the fans here and is eager to take the field in the red and gold jersey.

Speaking of his career, it all started with Royal Wahingdoh, where he played for six seasons until 2015 before moving to Pune City to make his ISL debut. After a season, he left for Salgaocar, while the same season, he joined MC. In 2017, he moved to SCEB (I-League), and after a season, he began his regular ISL season with Kerala Blasters (2017-18), following by FC Goa (2018-20), Jamshedpur FC (2020-21) before returning to MC, but signing with SCEB on loan.

Jackichand has become the third loan signing for SCEB this season. The other two happen to be Indian midfielder Amarjit Singh and Indian defender Adil Khan. The three permanent signings happen to be a couple of Indian defenders Ankit Mukherjee and Raju Gaikwad, and Indian goalkeeper Sankar Roy.
