TN Woman dumps 3-month-old baby in sump, kills self
Synopsis
A 28-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, after throwing her three-months-old baby in a water sump near her house in Rathinapuri.
Police said, the victim Thangaveni had thrown her baby in the sump last evening and went inside the house to take the extreme step.
On hearing the cries of the child, her husband Lakshmanan rushed to the sump and rescued the baby and admitted it to a private hospital, they said.
However, Lakshmanan was shocked to find his wife hanging from the ceiling after he returned home.
Police reached the spot and conducted preliminary enquiries with family members which revealed that Thangaveni was found mentally disturbed for the last few days.
