WB polls: Sporadic incidents of violence reported

Synopsis

Incidents of violence, kidnapping were reported from few places on 11 April as polling for first phase came to an end. As many as 30 people were injured from 31 assembly constitutencies. The State Election Commission received more than 1100 complains from opposition CPM and Congress.

 

There were reports of scuffle between TMC and CPM supporters in Narayangarh in west Medinipur district.

 

About 79. 56% of voters exercised cast their votes in districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Burdwan.  

 

About 163 candidates are in fray, including 21 women, from the 31 seats.
