West Bengal: BJP worker’s death triggers protests in Medinipur

Synopsis

A BJP worker was killed in West Midnapore. The BJP has started protesting, claiming that it was a premeditated murder as there were signs of injuries on the body of the deceased. Police were prevented from taking the body of the BJP worker. BJP activists blocked the road in protest. They alleged that the miscreants of Trinamool party killed the BJP worker.

Tensions erupted in West Midnapore over the death of a BJP worker. Police recovered the hanging body of the BJP worker. The BJP has started protesting, claiming that it was a premeditated murder as there were signs of injuries on the body of the deceased. Police were prevented from taking the body of the BJP worker. BJP activists blocked the road in protest.

According to police sources, Bachhu Bera, a resident of Shialsai village in Mohanpur, went missing on Sunday (October 25) evening after he went to visit some Durga puja pandals. The family of Bachhu started searching for him everywhere. After some time, the hanging body of Bachhu Bera was found beside the village.

The BJP leadership has alleged that Bachhu was killed after they found marks on his body and blood on his lower limbs. The BJP claimed that Bachhu Bera was their supporter. The locals stopped the police from taking the body. BJP leaders have alleged that the BJP worker was killed by the Trinamool party.

BJP district president Samit Das alleged, "Miscreants of the Trinamool party have killed Bachhu and hanged him. The IC of Mohanpur police station is involved in this case. I demand the arrest of the culprits.”

BJP activists blocked the national highway on Monday (October 27) evening in protest of the killing of the BJP worker. Police were prevented from taking the body of the BJP worker. Traffic jams were caused due to blockade of national highway road. On the other hand, Trinamool district president Ajit Maiti claimed, “The allegation of killing Bachhu Bera is baseless. The BJP needed an issue to blame the TMC, they got it.”
