WB transport minister Suvendu Adhikari refuses to budge, says he will stick to his goals

West Bengal Minister of Transport Suvendu Adhikari attended a public meeting in Netai village on Sunday (October 18) where he distributed clothes to the needy people. In the meeting, the minister said that no one can take him out of his way. He will stick to his goals. This straightforward statement of Suvendu made people think that he might leave the Trinamool party and join the BJP.   

West Bengal Minister of Transport Suvendu Adhikari attended a public meeting in Netai village on Sunday (October 18) where he distributed clothes to the needy people. In the meeting, the minister gave a straightforward message. He said, “No one can take me out of my way. I will continue as I am.”

Many political experts think that by making this comment, Suvendu has again provoked the speculation of a change of party. It is being heard in the state politics that he is keeping in touch with the top leadership of BJP. However, the minister has denied all the allegations and confirmed that he is not joining the BJP.

At Netai's public meeting on Sunday (October 18), Shuvendu Adhikari identified himself as Netai's (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's friend and disciple) servant. Suvendu Adhikari said in the meeting, “No one has ever been able to take Netai away from his goals, actions, and responsibilities. I am his follower. I will also stick to my goals.”

After the Maoist insurgency in January 2011, nine villagers were killed by CPM armed forces in Netai village. 27 people were injured. Trinamool leader Shuvendu Adhikari stood by the villagers during that time. Then, under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and Shuvendu Adhikari, a movement was formed against the CPM government in the same village. As a result, the CPM lost its power in the next assembly polls.

Many years have passed since the Trinamool government came to power. The political equation has also changed a lot. Chhatradhar Mahato, the spokesperson of the one-time anti-police anti-terrorism committee, has joined the Trinamool after being released from jail. At the party's working meeting, Chief Minister Mamata has replaced Trinamool's leader Shuvend Adhikari with her nephew Abhishek Bandyopadhyay. As a result, a tiff started between Suvendu Adhikari and the Trinamool party.

Suvendu has been absent from most of the party's working meetings. Lately, it is being rumored that Shuvendu can join the BJP. But Suvendu has made it clear that he is not going to the BJP. 

In the meeting which Suvendu attended in Netai village, Tanmoy Roy, the newly expelled Trinamool youth president of Binpur 1 block, was also present. As a result, speculation has started in the political arena about Shuvendu's relationship with the Trinamool party.
