WB Anandpur case: State government to bear all the medical expenses of Nilanjana Chatterjee

Nilanjana Chatterjee, a life saviour was admitted to Anandapur Hospital when she sustained serious injuries while trying to save a girl from getting molested. West Bengal chief minister praised her courage and effort and that the state government will bear all the expenses for her treatment.  

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the state government will bear all the treatment expenses of Nilanjana Chatterjee who suffered injuries while trying to save the woman from getting harassed in Anandapur on Saturday (September 5) night.

According to police sources, the incident is still elusive. After checking the CTV footage, the police have confiscated the car of the accused. The victim, Nilanjana Chatterjee, has undergone successful surgery on her leg and is being admitted to a private hospital.

Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Anuj Sharma on Tuesday (September 8) conveyed the message of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about the decision of the state government to bear the medical expenses of Nilanjana Chatterjee. On Tuesday (September 8) OC of Anandapur police station went to the hospital and connected Nilanjana with Anuj Sharma over the phone.

 The Commissioner congratulated and praised her effort to save a girl from getting harassed. He also conveyed the wishes for her speedy recovery from the Chief Minister.

The Kolkata police have already identified the accused. The accused youth, a resident of East Jadavpur, was identified as Abhishek Pandey. Police are searching for the accused.

However, the accused's mother claimed that Abhishek had a five-year relationship with the girl. According to police sources, there are many inconsistencies in the statement of the victim.

Moreover, on Tuesday (September 8) forensic experts examined the seized car and during sample collection, cops found several clothes from the car's trunk.

However, it is still not clear why the woman tried to mislead police about Pandey's identity and her relation with him. Investigating officials are keeping a tab on Pandey's relatives and friends in case he turns up anywhere to seek shelter.
