Dehradun: A viral video of police brutality in which a youth's forehead was stabbed with a bike key has embarrassed Uttarakhand Police. Three cops attached to patrolling duty near Rudrapur have been suspended.

The incident happened on Monday (July 27) at 8 pm when two persons on a bike were going near Rudrapur town. The patrolling cops stopped and accused the biker of over speeding and not wearing a helmet.

After an argument broke out, one of the cops snatched the bike key and stabbed it on the 20-year-old biker’s forehead. The injured youth went back to his village in shock and his forehead was bleeding as the key was still dangling.

Seeing this police brutality, the villagers encircled the local police station and pelted stones.

To disperse the mob, police resorted to lathi charge. A local elected representative arrived and pacified the crowd and assured action against the errant cops who attacked the bikers.

As the shameful incident went viral on social media, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat directed police to take action immediately. Following which three cops including a sub-inspector were suspended.
