A massive avalanche occurred over the Gandhi Sarovar in Kedarnath. No loss of life and property has been reported in the incident. An avalanche occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning on the snowy mountain located behind Kedarnath Dham.
According to news agency ANI, Rudraprayag senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dr. Vishakha Ashok Bhadane declared that neither life nor property had been lost.
The snow came down significantly from the mountain, and snow dust started to rise from the mountain. This caused a stir in Kedarnath. The avalanche continued for quite some time. However, it is not uncommon for avalanches to occur on this mountain.
According to disaster management officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, an avalanche happened on the hill above Gandhi Sarovar on Sunday morning, according to the Kedarnath sector officer's report. That being said, this avalanche did not do any harm. He said that this mountain occasionally experiences these kinds of avalanches. "These kinds of situations occur after heavy snowfall. They don't do any harm," he declared.
Kedarnath Dham saw a tremendous flood of pilgrims earlier this month; up to June 6, the number exceeded 7 lakh. The Char Dham Yatra circuit, which encompasses Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, has seen an increase in pilgrims this year.
