Uttar Pradesh: Mau cylinder blast death toll increases to 17

Nine persons seriously injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at Azamgarh and Varanasi trauma centres.

Mau (Uttar Pradesh): The death toll in Mau cylinder blast went up to 17 on Saturday (October 19). The two-storey building had collapsed following a cylinder blast in Mohammadabad, Mau on October 14.

Nine persons seriously injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at Azamgarh and Varanasi trauma centres.

On October 14, the cylinder blast resulted in the collapse of the roof of a building. Two neighbouring houses were also damaged. Many people were trapped in the debris.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathhad expressed grief over the incident and directed the district magistrate, SP and other officials to immediately provide all possible relief to those affected.

The government statement had said, "After speaking to people and after the initial investigation it was found that the cylinder blast resulted in the collapse of the roof of the house and two neighbouring houses were also damaged. People got trapped inside the debris."
