
BJP leader and UP minister Swati Singh was seen inaugurating a bar in Gomtinagar area of Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has demanded an explanation from her.
Swati Singh who is the Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare was seen inaugurating ‘Be The Beer’, a bar in Lucknow along with an IPS couple Gaurav Pandey and Neha Pandey. The inauguration took place on May 20 and came to the notice of the CM after the photos went viral on social media. The inspector general of Lucknow has sought an explanation from the IPS couple.
The state has seen protests from women demanding a liquor ban similar to that of its neighbouring state Bihar.
Swati is the wife of Dayashankar Singh who was suspended for allegedly making derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati.
Congress leader from the state, Dwijendra Tripathi, said, “A BJP minister has gone ahead and inaugurated a beer bar. The BJP is losing confidence.”
BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi came out in her defence. He says that since liquor is not banned in the state, her action is not illegal.
