
A video showing a transperson being assaulted and stripped by a gym operator and his aides went viral on social media in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly. The incident took place at a gym on August 7 following a dispute over a car being vandalised.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, identified as Suri, she and her companions were called to the gym after being told that information about the car vandalism had been obtained. The video shows Suri being repeatedly beaten, kicked, shoved, and stripped by the accused.
Suri alleged that after reaching the gym, the situation escalated and the gym operator and his aides began abusing and assaulting them. She said the accused punched and kicked her, attacked her with hockey sticks, tore her clothes, and stripped her.
According to Suri's complaint, her adopted brother Vishal called her on August 7 and told her that his car had been vandalised outside the gym. Suri said she went to the gym with two friends after receiving the call. She alleged that the gym operator later contacted them and said information about the person who had vandalised the car had been obtained, asking them to return to the gym.

The complainant said that when she and her companions returned around 10 pm, several men, including Ashwani Sharma, Sushil, Ankit, and Ajay, were present. She alleged that an argument broke out soon after they arrived and the accused started abusing and assaulting them when they objected.
In her statement, Suri alleged that the accused assaulted them with hockey sticks and that she was also molested, and her clothes were torn. Police said an investigation was launched after the video surfaced on social media.
Police said their inquiry found that Suri had been involved in a fight with the gym operator and his aides. The police said the complaint filed by Suri was being investigated and necessary action would be taken.
A case has been registered under Sections 191(2) (punishment for rioting), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
