Telangana Police arrest T Raja Singh again, second time in 3 days: Report

Telangana Police on Thursday picked up suspended BJP leader T Raja Singh from his residence in Hyderabad, days after he was arrested and later granted for his alleged controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier, a large crowd gathered at Shalibanda in Hyderabad over the alleged remarks of Singh and began to protest. The police resorted to lathi charge to control the protesters.

The suspended BJP leader had also released a 10-minute video making derogatory statements against the Prophet which led to a huge furore demanding action against him. He was taken into custody on the same day, however, he was released on Tuesday after the Court returned his remand application and ordered that he be released forthwith.

The FIR was registered against him at the Dabeerpura Police Station under sections 153a, 295, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code.

"Police in Telangana are puppets in the hands of Asaduddin Owaisi," he said in the video shared hours before his arrest. In it, he said supporters of AIMIM chief Owaisi, who is MP from Hyderabad, "have been given a free hand to throw stones... no FIR, no arrest".

He blamed Municipal Development Minister KT Rama Rao ('KTR') —  son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao ('KCR') — and Home Minister Mehmood Ali for "why Telangana has a vitiated atmosphere today". He said KTR is "an atheist who believes in no religion", whose party Telangana Rashtra Samiti "plays the game of Muslim vote-bank" along with AIMIM's Owaisi. 

"Let me tell you the reason for communal tension in Telangana. There's this stand-up comedian called Munawar Faruqui. Three months ago we'd got his show in Hyderabad cancelled, with the police's support," Raja Singh said.
