Tamil Nadu: Mother taken into custody after she threw baby into well

Synopsis

Dhanalakshmi threw her son Rishid into the well, which had 15-feet water. The incident occurred on Saturday (November 2).

Chennai: A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody on the charge of killing her one-year-old son by throwing him into the well of her courtyard. The accused is identified as Dhanalakshmi.

According to sources, Dhanalakshmi threw her son Rishid into the well, which had 15-feet water. The incident occurred on Saturday (November 2). After the incident, Dhanalakshmi informed the locals that two people came near her, made her smell something, grabbed the gold and threw the baby into the well.

The baby was later taken out of the well with the help of the fire force led by assistant station officer CO Varghese. Though the baby was rushed to a private hospital and government medical college hospital, the child’s life could not be saved. 

The accused was staying in a rented house along with her husband Praveen and the in-laws. When she threw her son, none of them were at home.  Initially, the accused didn't confess to the crime, but later admitted.
