Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday (November 27) resigned from the state cabinet post. He sent his resignation letter to Banerjee and emailed a copy to governor Jagdeeep Dhankhar at 1.05 pm. Adhikari, the legislator from Nandigram in East Midnapore district, had resigned from the post of chairman of the Hooghly River Bridge Commission on Thursday (November 26) night.
Transport Minister Shuvendu Adhikari on Friday (November 27) resigned from the state cabinet after a long discussion. He resigned in a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of the state," he wrote in the letter. He also emailed Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar about his decision.
The governor has already said that Shuvendu has resigned. He wrote on Twitter, 'The resignation letter written to the Chief Minister from the office of Shuvendu Adhikari was forwarded to me at 1:05 pm today. The matter will be seen from the constitutional context.

Adhikari's move comes just a few hours after senior leader and Coochbehar Dakshin MLA Mihir Goswami quit the party and went to Delhi to join BJP.
According to sources, Shuvendu is going to Delhi on Saturday (November 28). So his chances of joining the BJP are getting stronger. No statement has been issued by the Trinamool Congress so far. However, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, president of the provincial Congress, said that Shuvendu's resignation was a lightning signal for the Trinamool.
However, Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday (November 26) had resigned as Hooghly River Bridge Commission chairman, hinting at his exit from the party.

According to sources close to Shuvendu, Shuvendu had been complaining to people close to him for several days that he was not getting importance in the team. He has informed them that he will not have any relationship with the team in future.
On the other hand, Shuvendu Adhikari released the security provided by the state government on Friday. He also left his pilot car and escort. Shortly afterwards, he sent his resignation letter to the Chief Minister.
