Synopsis

It all started when Congress Corporator Jatin Raj created a group on WhatsApp to keep people informed on popular schemes and programmes of the Congress.

Prashanth Nayak, a resident of that area who was apparently against the Congress, posted a morphed picture of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi - which showed her washing utensils.

This led to a fight between supporters of Jatin Raj and Prashanth Nayak.

Jatin decided to file a case against Prashanth and was entering the Vijay Nagar Police Station when he was stopped, and a clash erupted between the two sides.

In the clash, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, a 33-year-old named Umesh Sharma was killed and six others injured, said Jabalpur police.

Area City Superintendent of Police Inderjeet Balsavar said that Umesh, who sustained injuries in the clash, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital in Jabalpur, while undergoing treatment.
