The defence in the case of alleged poaching of two black bucks by Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Kankani near here in October 1998, has made a plea in the trial court to produce the cassette of the video recording of the statements of three eyewitnesses.
Admitting the plea, Chief Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit ordered the public prosecutor to arrange for the production of the video recorded statements with a TV and VCR in the court on next hearing on July 16.
Salman Khan’s counsel H M Saraswat said that there was some contradiction in the written statements and the video recorded statements of the three eyewitnesses Harish Dulani, Poonam Chand and Chhogara.
"With these recorded statements, we wanted to show in the court that there is a difference in both the statements, which are important to prove the innocence of Khan", said Saraswat.
The hearing in the case continued today with the examination of the Investigating Officer, the then DFO Lalit Bora.
He will reappear on next hearing as he was the one who had recorded the statements of all the three witnesses after the case was registered against Khan by the forest department.
