
A day after he shared the stage with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at a rally in Punjab's Sangrur district, Punjab health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has informed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Sidhu also shared the stage with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and all state ministers.
The minister developed symptoms like fever on Tuesday morning following which he underwent a rapid antigen test. The test results confirmed that the minister had been infected by the virus.

He is presently in home isolation at his official residence in Chandigarh.
The total case tally in the country stands at 66,85,082 including 9,19,023 active cases, 56,62,490 cured/discharged/migrated and 1,03,569 deaths, as per official data released.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
