BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Wednesday (December 16) said that President’s rule must be imposed in West Bengal to ensure free and fair assembly polls.

Assembly polls in West Bengal are due in April-May next year.

Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “If the next assembly polls are conducted in West Bengal when the TMC is in power, people will not be able to vote fearlessly in the state.”

“We demand President's rule in West Bengal. If President's rule is not imposed in the state, the Election Commission should take the responsibility of ensuring free and fair polls.”

Vijayvargiya also said that if the West Bengal Police and other state government employees are part of the election process, then there would be no free and fair polls.

He demanded that central security forces and Union government employees should be deployed in the state during the election.

Vijayvargiya alleged that the ruling TMC is creating terror in the state. The BJPs strong presence in West Bengal has created a sense of fear in the minds of TMC. Therefore, they are trying to create terror in the state before the assembly polls.
