As the Central government has given permission to reopen schools from October 15, parents are now concerned as the state government is yet to take any decision as COVID-19 cases are still increasing.
After the Centre gave a go-ahead to the state government to reopen schools and colleges, the Karnataka government now says, it is in no hurry. However, parents are still confused as uncertainty looms without a date from the state government on reopening of schools and colleges.
Education minister S Suresh Kumar will hold a meeting with experts and also with parents associations on Monday and has said that whatever steps should be taken keeping children's safety in mind will be implemented.
Earlier, for Class 9 to 12, from September 21, the Centre gave permission to conduct offline classes, but the state department did not show any urgency, the minister stated.

Parents are still in confusion as to whether to send their children to schools and colleges when they open. On one side the Centre has given the go ahead and on the other, the state government is yet to take a decision. The minister had earlier said that only parents can decide on whether they should send their children to school or not.
Sources say, with an increase in COVID-19 cases, the government is almost certain that the state will defer reopening of schools and colleges.
