Setting an example of communal harmony, more than 60 Hindu inmates of the district jail in Muzaffarnagar are keeping 'roza', the dawn-to-dusk fast during Ramzan, along with 1,150 Muslim inmates.
The holy month of Ramzan commenced yesterday.
On the first day of the Ramzan, 65 Hindu inmates observed roza with Muslim inmates, said district jailer Satish Tripathi.
Special arrangements have been made for the inmates to perform prayers and enjoy their pre-dawn 'sehri' meal and evening meals known as 'iftars'.
Food items like seasonal fruits, dates, 500 gram milk and various other snacks are being made available to them, he said.
