“My dad has worked for Oracle for 20 years, worked for the same boss for 20 years. Not even a phone call. These companies are evil. What is he supposed to do for the next 2 years? Keep in mind, he has cancer and now he has no health insurance,” the user wrote.

The termination email, which Business Insider obtained, notified employees that their positions had been removed "after careful consideration of Oracle's current business needs". It further said that the decision was part of a larger organisational change and that the impacted employee's final working day would be imminent.

"We are grateful for your dedication, hard work, and the impact you have made during your time with us," the subject line reads. Employees were also urged to give a personal email address as soon as possible in order to receive separation-related documentation, and access to business systems was to be withdrawn quickly.
