Central Railway spokesperson AK Jain said the derailed coaches include the engine.

It is speculated that heavy rains in the Kasara Ghats through which the lines run is the reason for the derailment.

Railway authorities have directed Accident Relief Medical Vans towards the site.

This is the third derailment in a month.

On August 20, 14 coaches of the Kalinga Utkal Express bound for Haridwar in Uttarakhand went off the tracks, killing 24 people and injuring 40 in Muzaffarnagar. The impact of the accident was so severe that one of the coaches could be seen mounted on another while another coach had crashed into a building along the tracks.

On August 23, the Delhi-bound Kaifiat Express derailed near Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh. Seventy four people were injured with no deaths reported.
