Hours after the Tamil Nadu police arrested both the medical students who were on the run after throwing a dog from a terrace, they were released on bail. Shravan Krishnan, an animal activist who is now taking care of the dog shared his anguish Facebook and said that they will keep fighting and will get the police to file a charge-sheet.
The dog in the viral video who has now been named Bhadra, was found alive last evening and was taken to a hospital in Chennai earlier today.
The doctors of the Madras Veterinary College have confirmed that she is the same dog seen in the video."Clinical examination reveal fracture of right femur, rest everything is fine. The dog is out of danger, however, it is still in a state of shock," doctors said.
Shravan posted a picture of the dog yesterday on Facebook and said that it is not able to walk properly and will be under treatment. "What breaks my heart is that she was still wagging her tail," he said in his post.
Soon after which a heart-wrenching video of the dog wagging its tail was shared on Facebook and Twitter
This post and video came as a sign of relief for all the animal lovers across the nation who have been closely tracking the story ever since a video surfaced on Facebook and Whatsapp in which a man was seen throwing a dog off a terrace in Tamil Nadu.
The man who threw the dog and the man who filmed it were later identified as Gautham Sudarshan and Ashish Paul, both final year medical students and are still on the run. According to their classmates, who helped the police in identifying the culprits, Gautham even went to the extent of threatening them when he realised that the police are searching for him and his friend.
However, according to the police who have filed an FIR against the culprits, their parents will be bringing them to Chennai by noon. "We have registered a case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. We are getting information from the college to get in touch with the medicos' parents. We hope they would encourage them to appear before us," a senior police officer said. According to the police, the dog was tortured two weeks ago.
