A massive fire has broken out at a chemical factory in Navi Mumbai's Koparkhairane locality. A number of firefighting vehicles are on the spot. The fire reportedly broke out in the Navbharat Industrial Estate. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
According to Surendra Choudhary, a fire officer at the Emergency Response Station (ERS) in Pawane MIDC, "The fire, fueled by a large stock of chemicals, rapidly spread to the neighbouring companies. In addition to deploying one fire engine from ERS, we called in 12 more fire engines from Rabale MIDC fire stations, NMMC's fire stations at Koparkhairane, CBD, and Airoli."
CIDCO's Bronto skylift was utilized for firefighting operations due to the difficulty of accessing the companies to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties thus far.
