Maha govt to Railways: Restore Mumbai's local trains

In the letter, Kishor Raje Nimbalkar -- secretary in the Disaster Management, Relief & Rehabilitation department -- said: "The state is looking to open up the local train services to the general public while ensuring adherence to following of all COVID 19 protocols. In order to ensure that this is done in a staggered manner, the following time slots are hereby proposed."


Maharashtra government has written to Railways and proposed to restore Mumbai local service for general public & suggested three slots for travel. 

It has also proposed two slots for people related to essential services and one ladies special train every hour.

The proposals include:

* Any person with a valid ticket or pass should be allowed to use the service from the start of first local train till 7.30am. 

* People engaged in essential services having valid QR Code / ID card along with a valid ticket or pass be allowed to board local trains from 8am to 10.30am.

* From 11am to 4.30pm and from 8pm till end of service, any person with a valid ticket or pass should be allowed to board trains.

* From 5pm to 7.30pm, only people engaged in essential services having valid QR Code / ID card along with a valid ticket or pass should be allowed to board local trains.
