Rashtriya Janata Dal Supremo Lalu Yadav has secured bail in the fodder scam related case.
The Jharkhand High Court has granted Lalu bail till hearing on the Chaibasa case is completed.
However, he is unlikely to step out of jail any time soon.
Lalu was convicted in four different cases pertaining to the fodder scam, 2 of which relate to the Chaibasa Treasury, one related to the Deoghar Treasury and another related to the Dumka Treasury. The trial in the Doranda Treasury case is still ongoing.
As per reports, Yadav will remain in jail, since he is yet to get bail in other fodder scam cases.
The RJD supremo had been sentenced by Ranchi's CBI court to five years for illegal withdrawals from Chaibasa treasury. The scam involved the withdrawal of Rs 33.67 crore from the treasury in 1992-93 when Lalu was Bihar CM.
Lalu had pleaded that he should be granted bail since he had already served out half the sentence in the case. The CBI had opposed the Lalu's petition in September on the grounds that he had been convicted and sentenced in 4 cases linked to the fodder scam.
However, Lalu's lawyers cited that he was suffering from multiple ailments and sought relief on medical grounds.
