Kolkata Metro to extend train timings from Dec 7

The Kolkata Metro Railway will increase its daily services from 190 to 204 from Monday to Saturday starting December 7. The timings will also be extended by 90 minutes daily from next week.
 

Kolkata: Metro services will be extended by 90 minutes daily from next week. Services will resume from 7 am instead of 8 am on Monday (December 7), and the final train will end its run at 10.30 pm instead of 10 pm. 

The Metro railway authorities have also decided to increase its daily services from 190 to 204 from Monday to Saturday starting December 7.

Senior citizens, ladies and children below 15 years, will not be required to produce e-passes throughout the day.

For all other passengers, e-passes will not be required between 7 am and 8.30 am, and 8 pm onwards.

Tokens will not be issued, and travellers need to make use of smart cards to avail the services, as has been the practice since the Metro resumed operations following the COVID-19 lockdown.

In the pre-pandemic times, Metro carried 6.5 lakh riders daily with around 3,000 commuters travelling by an eight-coach train. Now, around 1 lakh people take the Metro daily.
