Kerala SSLC and VHSE exams underway adhering to COVID-19 guidelines

Synopsis

Of 10 lakh students, who are expected to appear for the exams in Kerala, around 1,500 students are from other states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior secondary exams for VHSE and SSLC began in Kerala today adhering to health and social distancing norms amid COVID-19 lockdown.

Examinations of Vocational Higher Secondary Examination (VHSE) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) resumed in Kerala from May 26. 

Students stood in a queue maintaining social distance as their temperatures were being checked prior to entering the exam hall in Kerala. 

Students were provided with hand sanitisers as they underwent thermal screening before entering the examination centres.

The examination board had also put up help desks to guide students at the examination centres.

Various examinations are underway in the state in the aftermath of relaxation in lockdown norms. The exams are scheduled to continue until May 30.

The state, which has drawn praise for its handling of COVID-19, has procured 5,000 infrared thermometers to screen the students. National Service Scheme among other organisations would be providing over 25 lakh masks for students for the five days.

Kerala, which reported the first three coronavirus cases in India, has recorded over 800 patients so far and four deaths.
