4.56 PM: IMD revises rain alert in Kerala; red alert in Ernakulam

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised the rain alert in Kerala as the monsoon intensified on Monday. The IMD issued new alerts as several districts received extremely heavy rainfall.  The weather department has sounded a red alert in Ernakulam on Monday. An orange alert has been sounded in 11 districts today including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

2.40 PM: NEET forged mark list scandal: DYFI member arrested for falsely claiming top rank 

The NEET test results manipulating case led to the arrest of a Kollam DYFI member. Sami Khan (21), a Kollam Kadaikkal native, was taken into custody. According to the case, a forged document was produced that claimed to have received a high rank and marks in the NEET 2021–22. He approached the High Court after failing to gain entrance. The document was fake, as determined by the rural assessment, in accordance with the High Court's directions.

12.26 PM: Kerala police conduct raid at office of online channel Marunadan Malayali; Laptops seized

The police on Monday (July 3) conducted a raid at the office of the online news channel Marunadan Malayali in connection with derogatory news about Kunnathunad Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) PV Sreenijin. Computers, laptops and mobile phones of employees were seized. The police informed that the mobile phone will be returned only after the inspection. The police also confirmed that the raid was conducted to find the source of the news against V Sreenijan MLA.

11.17 AM: Woman found dead on railway track; Vande Bharat Express, Jan Shatabdi run late

A woman's body was found on the railway tracks between Murukumpuzha and Kadakkavoor on Monday (July 3) following which several trains were delayed. The trains which departed from Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station on Monday morning are running late. According to reports, the woman is said to have been hit by Sampark Kranti Express.

The state health department has identified several hotspots of dengue cases. According to the official data, there are 145 hotspots in Kerala. The spots have been categorized into wards, panchayat, municipalities and corporations. Kozhikode has the highest number of hotspots in the state.

Beauty parlour owner Sheela Sunny who was jailed for 72 days and proved innocent in the false LSD stamp case is seeking justice. Meanwhile, the Excise Department has not handed over Sunny's mobile phone and scooter.

Heavy downpour is expected in Kerala according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) and an orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday (July 3). At the same time, yellow alerts have been issued in nine districts including Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode.
