Thiruvananthapuram: Former principal secretary of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former IT secretary M Sivasankar is likely to be suspended from the service.
Vijayan had appointed a two-member committee to investigate Sivasankar’s role in the Kerala gold smuggling case. The panel also probed into allegations regarding the appointment of accused Swapna Suresh in a state government department.
According to reports, chief secretary Vishwas Mehta has finalised a report that will be forwarded to the state government recommending action against Sivasankar for violation of service rules of civil services and practising nepotism in making appointments in IT department.
Regarding this report, the government is expected to issue an order suspending Sivasankar.
After Sivasankar's link with Swapna, the main accused, came to light, Sivasankar was removed from the post of chief minister's principal secretary and IT secretary.
