Thiruvananthapuram: Two assistant commissioners and two circle inspectors in charge of traffic in the city were allegedly made to stand till midnight as punishment in Kerala, because they made police chief Loknath Behera’s wife wait in traffic.

The police officers were controlling traffic from Palayam to Chackai bypass to make way for the governor who was heading to the domestic airport in the evening.  Around this time, few vehicles were stopped in the city. Loknath Behera’s wife, who works as in a reputed IT Company in Technopark, was also among those who were stuck in traffic.

When the four officers in charge of traffic were relaxing after the governor reached the airport safely without being stuck in traffic, they received a message from police headquarters asking them to report immediately. The four were also asked to meet the DGP directly.

According to reports, the official warned the officers and told them to leave the force if they did not know how to control traffic. They were made to stand till midnight as punishment. Later leaders of police organisations and top officials intervened and asked them to leave.
