Thiruvananthapuram: Police have asked the court for more time to look into the 2015 assembly ruckus case. The cops make what appears to be a tactical move just as the case's trial is about to start. In the assembly ruckus case, there are six accused including CPM's V Sivankutty, KT Jaleel and EP Jayarajan. Former Left front MLAs E.S Bijimol and Geetha Gopi have also filed a petition in the court seeking further investigation.

On March 13, 2015, the state assembly saw unusual scenes when LDF members who were then in opposition attempted to stop then-finance minister K M Mani from delivering the state budget since he was allegedly involved in a bar bribery scheme. The then-LDF members are also accused of damaging electrical devices on the presiding officer's desk, including computers, keyboards, and microphones, in addition to throwing the Speaker's chair off the podium.
