Karnataka rains: 70-year-old killed after house collapses in Gadag

Synopsis

A 70-year-old woman has died after the roof of her house collapsed on Wednesday, October 14 at Rona taluk of the Gadag district following heavy rain.

Gadag: A 70-year-old woman died after the roof of her house collapsed on Wednesday, October 14.

The incident took place at Rona taluk of the Gadgag district following heavy rain. The deceased has been identified as Ninganagouda Bheemanagoudra.

Reportedly, the house collapsed on Wednesday morning following heavy rain in the district for the last two days.

Though Ninganagouda’s neighbours immediately rushed to the spot to rescue the woman she had already died.

Local officials visited the spot and carried on their investigation.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday, has predicted heavy showers, accompanied by thunder and lightning, for 10 districts in north Karnataka.

A red alert has been sounded for Bagalkot, Gadag, Haveri, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Belagavi, Raichur, Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts for Wednesday and Thursday.
