Karnataka drug scandal: Casinos owned by Kannadigas in Sri Lanka under scanner

Internal Security Division will investigate casinos owned by Kannadigas in Sri Lanka. According to State police sources, there are three casino establishments in Sri Lanka owned, in partnership, by wealthy individuals in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: The investigation into the Sandalwood drugs case has revealed that drugs were exported and imported from Karnataka and Sri Lanka through business tycoons and Sandalwood stars. 

In addition, officials have found that there are many casinos owned by Bengaluru-based businessmen in Sri Lanka.

Sources said that the State’s Home Department has taken this revelation very seriously and has directed officials of the Department’s Internal Security Division (ISD) and Intelligence to investigate the international drug cartel.

It is reported that drugs are often smuggled into India from Nigeria and other countries of Africa.

However, drugs entering Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are now also being smuggled from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and other South East Asian countries.

Intelligence sources have also confirmed with news portals that drugs to Sri Lanka are being smuggled out of the southern States.

According to State police sources, there are three casino establishments in Sri Lanka owned, or are in partnership, by wealthy individuals in Bengaluru. Many people from Bengaluru are reportedly working in these casinos.
