Karnataka BJP ministers, leaders back CM BSY, demand sacking Yatnal from party

Synopsis

Coming down heavily on former Union minister Basangouda Patil Yatnal who demanded change in CM post and sacking of BS Yediyurappa, Cabinet minister KS Eshwarappa has said Yatnal should be sacked as other leaders too echo his thoughts.

Bengaluru: A day after former Union minister and BJP MLA from Bijapur, Basangouda Patil Yatnal expressed his displeasure over CM BS Yediyurappa giving preference to his home district Shivamogga and ignoring North Karnataka, in the latest development the state BJP unit is contemplating sacking Yatnal for his change in CM post comment.

After deputy CM CN Ashwath Narayana openly threw his weight behind BS Yediurappa to continue as the chief minister for full term, now Panchayat Raj minister KS Eshwarappa said Yatnal should be sacked for his comments.

Echoing similar sentiment, minister BC Patil and Yediyurppa's close confidente MP Renukacharya also lambasted against Yatnal.

The leaders have warned also Yatnal to refrain from making such statements and also asked BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel to take action against Yatnal.

Kateel had already downplayed Yatnal's comments and clarified that that there will not be any replacement for BSY and he will continue as CM till his term is completed.

Sources say this rebellion of Yatnal is not an isolated case as there were reports of Belagavi's Lingayat strongman Umesh Katti aspiring for the CM post. Adding further, the sources said, all the long standing disgruntled leaders in touch with Yatnal may be trying to fire salvo from over Yatnal's shoulder against BSY for not making them ministers.
