Karnataka: 6 killed, 9 grievously injured in horrific accident on Srirangapatna-Bidar Highway

Synopsis

In a horrific accident In Karnataka, 6 people were killed and 9 others sustained grievous injuries. The injured are said to be in a critical state. 

Mandya: Six persons were killed and at least nine were injured grievously when a multi-utility vehicle and a mini-goods van collided on Srirangapatna-Bidar Highway near Nagamangala, Karnataka, on Thursday night.

Five out of the six deceased were identified as Bakar Sharif (50), Mehboob Khan (47), Nawsad (45), Maqsood (35) and Poir Pasha. The other deceased is yet to be identified.  

The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical.

According to Bellur police, it was a head-on collision at Anche Chittana Halli in Nagamangala taluk. The accident occurred when the Tata Sumo, heading towards Belluru cross from Nagamangala collided head-on with a tempo. 

Four passengers travelling in the Tata Sumo died on the spot and the two persons sustained injuries. They later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. 

Others including the Tempo driver were critically injured and rushed to the hospital after the accident. 

In another unfortunate incident in Haveri, Prajavani reporter Manjunath MC was killed in a two wheeler accident on Wednesday. 

Native of Shivamogga, Manjunath was residing in Haveri for the past five months. Manjunath’s bike rammed into a tractor which led to the unfortunate accident. 

Manjunath was a well-known reporter among his peers and colleagues while working in Bengaluru and had made a name for himself with his work.
