JNU attack: Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary takes 'full responsibility' for violence

Several leaders, cutting across all political parties, condemned the brutal attack on JNU students on Sunday night. Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary has reportedly taken 'full responsibility' for the violence claiming, "They were our workers."

New Delhi: In what seems to be a major shocker for the nation, Hindu Raksha Dal has reportedly claimed responsibility for the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

"JNU is a hotbed of anti-national activities, we can't tolerate this. We take full responsibility for the attack in JNU and would like to say that they were our workers," said Pinky Chaudhary, Hindu Raksha Dal chief.

However, according to government sources, the claims made by Chaudhary are being investigated.

To capture the masked men who attacked JNU, the Delhi Police are taking the help of video footage as well as face recognition systems, sources added.

On Sunday evening, several students were injured and taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered JNU and attacked them and professors with sticks and rods.

The JNU administration and political leaders, cutting across party lines, had condemned the attack on students and urged the police to take action against the perpetrators.

On Monday night, a girl was seen holding the poster, which read - "Free Kashmir." The protesters were seen with several other placards with objectionable and abusive content.

Some posters called for "Ban on ABVP," while some others read, "Stand with JNU."

On Tuesday morning, Mumbai Police evicted those protesting at the Gateway of India and relocated them to Azad Maidan citing inconvenience to tourists and locals.

The students and activists had gathered at Azad Maidan on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, soon after the reports of violence in JNU became public.
