A day after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an appeal about 'Janatha Curfew' on Sunday asking people to stay indoors, Namma Metro service in Bengaluru will remain suspended for the whole day.
The official from Namma Metro tweeted saying that in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the metro service will shut operations on Sunday. The metro official defended the decision by adding that these are measures undertaken to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
Namma Metro service has two lines - Purple and Green - covering 42 kilometers. The Green line ferries passengers from Baiyappanahalli to Mysuru Road and Purple line runs between Yelachenahalli to Nagasandra. The metro witnesses about 4.5 lakh passengers daily.
