Kochi: Five fresh coronavirus cases have been reported in Kerala's Ernakulam. The patients belong to a group of foreign tourists.
They are UK natives aged between 60 and 80 years and one of them is female. “The foreigners are part of the 17-member team that had been staying at Tea County resort in Munnar. The samples of 12 among them tested negative,” said minister of agriculture VS Sunil Kumar.
The group of 19 tourists were holidaying at Tea County resort in Munnar. After a man from the group tested positive for COVID-19, they tried to escape to Dubai on March 15.
The officials had to stop the flight and offload the 19 foreigners at the Nedumbassery International Airport. All 19 had been under isolation after the incident. A UK national had tested positive for the virus on March 15, the minister told reporters. The five, all over 55 years, have been shifted to the Kalamassery Medical College.
