Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on July 13 claimed that the "real" Ayodhya lies in Nepal, not in India and that Lord Ram was born in Thori in southern Nepal.

On July 13, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made a statement that now has now made him a subject of internet trolling.  Oli said that the 'real Ayodhya' is in Nepal and Lord Ram is Nepali and not Indian.

He made the bizarre claim while addressing a program to mark the birth anniversary of Bhanubhakta Acharya. Oli had also said that India created a fake Ayodhya. He went on to say Lord Rama’s birthplace is not Ayodhya, but near the Balmiki Ashram in Southern Nepal’s Thori.

"The place called Thori, near Birgunj is the real Ayodhya, where Lord Ram was born. In India there is great dispute on Ayodhya. But there is no dispute in our Ayodhya," Prime Minister Oli was quoted as saying by his press advisor Surya Thapa.

"Valmiki Ashram is also in Nepal and the holy place where King Dasharath had executed the rites to get the son is in Ridi, which is in Nepal," he said.

As Dasharath was the ruler of Nepal, it is natural that his son Ram was also born in Nepal, Oli argued.

On social media, netizens reacted in a different manner to the bizarre claim.

A user wrote, "I think PM Oli of Nepal should get a brain checkup...🤔

Because, I am a Muslim, yet I know that Mother Sita was from Nepal and Lord Ram was from Ayodhya".

Take a look at a few more reactions here:

Lord Ram was born in Nepal,
Gautam Buddha was born in India, Narendra Modi was born in Uganda , KP Sharma Oli was born in Chennai and I was born in Republic of Wadiya . Game Over 🏳️.
