IATA pegs Indians at top of world air travellers' list

Synopsis

 

According to a report published by the International Air Transports Association (IATA), Indians have topped the list to be the highest number of air travellers in the world in previous year.

 

In 2015, an increase of 18.5% of air travel was done by Indians, the highest around the globe, reported IATA.

 

Russia recorded 11.9%, while China recorded 9.7% increase in airborne journeys. Close to 70.8 million people in the US has travelled by air.

 

IATA sources revealed, more travellers from the Asia-pacific region have opted for air travel compared to the rest of the world. 

 

A total of 3.6 billion people in the world has travelled by air in the previous year which is a significant increase by 7.2% compared to 2014.
