Synopsis

Indian Army neutralised over 50 Pakistani drones in a massive counter-drone operation along the LoC and International Border using advanced air defence systems.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following a failed cross-border attack involving swarm drones and missiles late Thursday night, prompting India to launch a massive counter-drone operation. Over 50 drones were neutralised along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB), with Indian air defence systems thwarting multiple aerial threats aimed at military installations, as per sources quoted by ANI.

Over 50 Drones Shot Down in Indian Counter-Drone Operation

According to sources quoted by ANI, the Indian Army’s Air Defence units conducted a large-scale counter-drone operation across Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot, successfully neutralising over 50 drones sent from across the border.

"The engagement involved extensive use of L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems, and other advanced counter-UAS equipment, demonstrating the Army’s robust capability to counter aerial threats," sources said.

The drone incursion is being seen as part of a failed attempt by Pakistan to target key Indian military positions.

Pakistan Denies Attack, Calls Indian Reports 'Reckless Propaganda'

Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a midnight statement denying any role in the attacks. "These claims are entirely unfounded, politically motivated and part of a reckless propaganda campaign aimed at maligning Pakistan," it said.

The statement strongly rejected the Indian allegations: "These allegations are rejected in the strongest possible terms," it added.

Pakistan accused India of fabricating claims without credible evidence.

"The repeated pattern of levelling accusations against Pakistan without any credible investigation reflects a deliberate strategy to manufacture a pretext for aggression and to further destabilise the region," the Foreign Office said.

Indian Defence Ministry Confirms Drone, Missile Attacks

According to Indian officials, Pakistan-origin drones and missiles targeted multiple military installations late Thursday night.

"Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today," a Defence Ministry spokesperson said.

Military sources added that missiles were also directed at civilian towns.

"Missiles from Pakistan were also directed at Jammu's Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia towns and were blocked by India's air defence systems," officials said.

The latest escalation follows a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists. In retaliation, Indian armed forces launched missile strikes targeting terror camps across the border. In a powerful retaliation to the Pahalgam massacre, Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’ missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK, including Bahawalpur, a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group.
