India tells Saudi Arabia to rectify 20 Riyal currency note

Synopsis

Reacting to the misrepresentation on the new Saudi Arabian banknote, the External Affairs Minister spokesman said: "We have asked the Saudi side to take urgent corrective steps. J&K and Ladakh are integral parts of India."

India has conveyed its serious concerns to Saudi Arabia both in New Delhi and in Riyadh over gross misrepresentation of India's external territorial boundaries in its new banknote.

The new Saudi Arabian 20 riyal currency note has a global map that shows undivided Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh excluded from India.

The new currency note was released by Saudi Arabia to commemorate the kingdom’s presidency of the Group of Twenty (G20) international forum.

Reacting to the misrepresentation, the External Affairs Minister spokesman said: "We have asked the Saudi side to take urgent corrective steps. J&K and Ladakh are integral parts of India."

The map shows the entire Jammu and Kashmir, including Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, as a separate territory.
