New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today inaugurated 44 bridges constructed by Border Roads Organisation via video conferencing.
These bridges have been built in the border areas of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking during the inauguration, Rajnath said: "The construction of these bridges will facilitate military & civil transport in our western, northern and north-east areas. Our armed forces personnel are deployed in large numbers in areas where transport is not available throughout the year."
Rajnath assured the nation that the government was tackling the threats along the Chinese and Pakistani borders with determination.
"First Pakistan & now China. It seems border disputes are being created as part of a mission. The country under Prime Minister Modi's leadership is not only facing the crisis with determination but is also bringing big and historic changes in many fields," he said.
The defence minister also hailed the Border Roads Organisation for completion of the road projects.
Rajnath said, "Even during the lockdown period, the BRO continued operations in the North-Eastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. BRO continued its work ensuring that snow clearance is not delayed at remote locations."
