The incident came to light, when hospital authorities tried to hand over the infected person’s body to relatives. When family members saw the body, they were shocked and protested.

According to reports, Ram Babu of Budhawarapeta was admitted to hospital on May 7 after he had displayed symptoms of coronavirus. After his death, two days later, his test results came back negative.

On May 9, a 36-year-old from S Nagappa Street was admitted to hospital and he died the next day. His samples tested positive for the virus.

However, Ram Babu’s body was taken to a particular site and buried as per the protocol on Monday night. The next morning, his relatives arrived at the GGH mortuary and questioned the staff.
