Haryana helpline to report cow slaughter

Synopsis


A 24-hour helpline number (8284030455) to report cow smuggling or slaughter was launched by Haryana police on Sunday.


The information provided will be handed over to the police officials, who will deploy special teams to deal with the situation.


Asianet Newsable on June 28 published a story about a video showing Gau Rakshak Dal volunteers forcing two men to consume a concoction of cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd and ghee that went viral on social media. 


The 57-second video was allegedly shot by the vigilante cow-saving group on June 10.


According to Gurgaon Gau Rakshak Dal President Dharmendra Yadav, the two "cow smugglers" had to be taught a lesson and also "purifying" them was necessary.
