Amidst allegations of VIP treatment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Deputy Haryana Advocate General has been sacked for carrying the luggage of the self-styled godman.

The Haryana deputy AG’s act of assisting the rapist godman has left the Haryana government, which is already facing flak for its mishandling of the situation, completely red-faced, reports News 18.

Ram Rahim has been given full VIP treatment at the Rohtak jail, from arranging a special helicopter to providing an air-conditioned room and helping in using facilities meant for police officers, the Khattar government is extending all help to the lawfully disgraced Dera chief.

A woman, Honeypreet, said to be the Dera Sacha Sauda chief's adopted daughter, was allowed to accompany him along with bags and suitcases.

Speaking to News18, Haryana A-G Baldev Mahajan confirmed that the deputy A-G has been sacked and said he had recommended the termination on seeing the video. He said that the deputy A-G had accompanied the convicted godman after claiming to be his relative.

The law officer was in his uniform when he picked Ram Rahim Singh’s bags. Mahajan, however, claimed that had the deputy A-G been in plainclothes, it would not have amounted to impropriety. 

Earlier, IPS officer Ashok Kumar, DCP Panchkula, for failing to to get prohibitory orders under Section 144 effectively implemented in Panchkula. The violence left 32 dead and over 500 injured.

Over 60 police personnel including two IPS officers were also injured.
