Handwara unrest: Internet services suspended in Kashmir

Synopsis

Internet services on mobile has been suspended in Kashmir on 14 April. The move, according to offcials, comes as a precaution to check spreading of any kind of anti-social rumours.    

The mobile service providers have not confirmed anything.

Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts are the areas where services have been affected since today morning.

According to Firstpost reports, Srinagar and south Kashmir residents have complained about unavailability of internet services since morning.

The suspension would be lifted as soon as situation improves, according to officials.

Situation has been tense in parts of Kashmir since 12 April after protests broke out in Handwara town of Kupwara district after the locals alleged that an army personnel had molested a school girl.  

Four locals were killed during clashes with the armed forces in the Kupwara district.
