Guru Ravidas Jayanti: BJP Launches Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan in Delhi, Here’s What It Means

BJP marked Guru Ravidas’ 650th Jayanti in Delhi with the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan and Pavan Maati Kalash distribution, highlighting his message of equality, dignity, social harmony and unity.

Delhi held a special function celebrating the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj as the Bharatiya Janata Party hosted the event 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan and Pavan Maati Kalash Distribution'. The objective of this campaign is to spread the message of equality, social harmony and human dignity propagated by Guru Ravidas.

The function was presided over by the Delhi BJP president and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra. Besides, national president of BJP Nitin Nabin and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta graced the occasion with their presence, which also saw several other senior party leaders, MPs, ministers, public representatives, office bearers and representatives of the Sant community.

Guru Ravidas Jayanti: Message of Equality and Social Justice

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Nabin honored the memory of Guru Ravidas and expressed his strong feeling for the struggle of the Saint against social discrimination and inequalities. He mentioned that the teachings of Guru Ravidas are more than relevant today, especially his messages of equality, dignity and social harmony.

Nabin explained that the purpose of Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan is to carry forward these values among the masses.

Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan Starts with Pavan Maati Kalash

According to Nabin, the campaign kicked off on July 29 in the context of Guru Purnima. In accordance with the mission, holy soil from Guru Ravidas' spiritual lineage is being taken around the country in the form of kalash.

The BJP has referred to the kalash as a representation of the teachings of the saint about fraternity, equality and social harmony. Nabin has also associated the mission with PM Narendra Modi's teachings of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Recalls Guru Ravidas’ Teachings

Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta recalled the contribution of Guru Ravidas in making society an equal one. She talked about how he taught about the dignity of work, equality and respect of everyone.

Gupta pointed out that his teachings guide the society towards justice, equality, unity and inclusion. She also stressed that the ideals should not be just remembered ceremoniously but practised socially every day.

Leaders of BJP Attend Delhi Programme

Many BJP leaders along with their representatives took part in the programme, which included Shivesh Kumar Ram, national president of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Lal Singh Arya, national vice-president, and Dushyant Gautam, who is the former national general secretary.

In addition to this, other important dignitaries included MPs, ministers of Delhi, representatives and district presidents of the Sant community. The programme ended with an assurance for the dissemination of the message of Guru Ravidas.
